It went pretty much as planned, which was just ducky.
Friday night saw one very surprised David Kloker. We went to Fujiya on Lake and Lyndale, and managed to get one of the private paper-screened rooms, so we were all in there when Emily brought him in. It's fun seeing someone truly surprised and touched. He seemed to like the Firefly dvd set we got him, and it went well with Justin's gift of a t-shirt that states "Joss Wheadon is my master". The food was good, the company was good, and we had a great time sitting at the low table, lounging for many hours.
After that some of the group broke off to go home, and the rest of us Harry Potter-ites headed over to Calhoun Square to get our copies of the Half-Blood Prince. We had an hour and a half or so to go, so we looked at books and got drinks from the Starbucks or whatever that coffee shop is. Got in line about half an hour to midnight, watched Mayor Rybek declare July 16th as officially "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" Day (I didn't see him buy a copy, though he did pick up "Guns, Germs and Steel" which I found interesting. He also had to be fed the title of the book, so I'm thinking he's probably not the biggest fan.)
Headed right home and got to reading straight away. After four hours I had to call it quits and went to bed around 5am. Luna woke me up a little before 9am and I got right back to reading. Took a break mid-day to clean the living room and eat some lunch, and finished around 3pm. Was sad for awhile, for many reasons, and tired as well, so I just curled up in the recliner and zoned for awhile. Perked up when it was time to get ready for the house-warming party at David and Emily's. Headed over, ate some food and got to drinking. Had a great time, laughed at Justin getting literally fall-down drunk (though he did have some help in that, as the words coming out of Marci's mouth were enough to make you fall over in shock even if you were mostly sober). I managed to hold my tounge on all Harry Potter related news as I was the only one to have finished the book at the time. Laughed at/was creeped out by David's new lava lamp and the forms the lava was making. Stayed up way too late, and rode with Jeremy as he drove Justin home.
Next party I will not encourage Justin to drink as much, because while he is funny when drunk, I feel bad that Jeremy always ends up driving him home and then having to go back the next day and drive him to his car. Which is what we did on Sunday. Actually, first we slept until noon and then had a very nice time just hanging out at home. Got everyone who showed interest informed on the movie plans (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory at 3:30 at Southdale) and went to pick Justin up. Alisha ended up cancelling because she had plans at 6pm and decided she just wouldn't be able to make it. Montana showed up late and the movie was sold out, so it ended up being Justin, Jeremy and myself. Enjoyed the movie greatly, thought it was *very* well done. I actually expected Willy to be more creepy, but Justin and Jeremy seemed to think he was more than creepy enough, so I guess it's just me.
Went home, had dinner, vegged on the couch. Jeremy finally convinced me to go to bed after I had fallen asleep a couple times, and I conked out immediately, which is unusual for me.
And now I'm just trying to get everything ready for the VIP we have coming today, and I think I'm just about *phone rings*...well, ready or not, here I go.

But...it is *so* different from Willy Wonka, that CCF can really avoid those comparisons.
The theater was sold out, too, so if I was able to focus and enjoy it to the point where I wasn't having personal space "issues", it must be really great. The teeth, the odd make-up on Augustus (man was that kid creepy), the grandparents, all of it was just so exactly what it needed to be.
And who can not love Charlie? It's the Charlie Buckets of the world that make me think I should have kids, and the Mike Teevees that make me think I should carve out my uterus with whatever's closest that will do the job.

As far as having an Augustus of my very own...I think I'd pass on that as well, unless I made a lot more money. Between the food and the constant need for new clothes and dental work, I don't know if I'd be able to keep up.
My cousin did name his kid Augustus, though, and from what I hear that kid can eat with the best of 'em, even at only a year old. Plus he's growing up in Ireland, for the time being at any rate, so there's hope for a great accent. I'll offer my assistance with the "look[ing] like a freakish mannequin" when the time is ripe.
